From the moment you walk into the Atlantic's Edge restaurant at Cheeca, you know you are in for something more than a sumptuous dining experience. The luxurious tropical decor invites you to sit down, relax and enjoy yet another wonder of the Keys' most famous resort. The stunning views from the circular panoramic windows beckon your gaze to the shimmering waters of the Atlantic Ocean. Choose to dine indoors or outdoors by the sea; you'll find the same efficient yet unobtrusive service either way.
Over the years, the Atlantic's Edge has become world-renowned for its fabulously original cuisine. A recent Frommer's review that appeared in the New York Times called the Atlantic's Edge the most elegant in the Florida Keys. "Although the service and food are generally first-rate -- don't get dressed up. Sport coats for men are fine but not necessary," said Frommers. Cheeca's culinary flagship has also received accolades from Esquire, Gourmet, and Food & Wine, just to name a few.
Chef Barry Walling and his talented culinary team has created a spectacular summer menu for the Atlantic's Edge this season, fusing tastes from the Orient, to the Middle East, to the Caribbean and back again. The Cheeca team recently won “Best Entree” and "Best Dessert" at the 2008 Taste of Islamorada gala food fair. "We are taking everything you love about the food at Cheeca to the next level," Chef Walling said.
Small plates range from Bang Bang Prawn with a Guanabana Shooter served Martini Style, to Caribbean Chop Salad to Asian Smoked Mahi Mahi Salad.
Delectable entrees will satisfy the discriminating tastes of any food lover. First and foremost, there's the famously fresh seafood, including Pan Seared Florida Grouper, Crispy Fried Yellowtail and Florida Lobster Tail. For carnivores, there's Cast Iron Bone-in Ribeye with House-made Steak Sauce and Black Angus Kansas City Strip Steak. And if you've had any luck at all on the water in the Sport Fishing Capital of the World, Chef Walling and Chef de Cuisine Anthony Mansolillo will cook up your catch any way you please, along with a delightful array of accompaniments.
You’ll want to leave room for Cheeca's tantalizing array of desserts, including Key Lime Tastic -- Key Lime Meringue served with Rasberry and Mango Coulis. The Butter Cup is a Peanut Butter Infused Chocolate Tart served with a Vanilla Bean Gelato.
The Atlantic’s Edge Restaurant is open from 6 to 10 p.m. nightly. Please call 305-517-4411 for reservations.
